John Cardinale

Reporter

John Cardinale joined KOAT as a reporter in June of 2021.

John is from Napa, California, and became passionate about news through watching his local news station.

John attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. During his time at the Cronkite School, John worked for the award-winning student-run news show Cronkite News on Arizona PBS. With Cronkite News, he served as an anchor and a reporter. John served as a borderlands reporter making trips to the U.S.-Mexico border to cover border issues. It was an eye-opening experience that he is grateful to have experienced. He graduated from the Walter Cronkite School in May of 2019.

John is also an avid baseball fan and pitched on the Arizona State Club baseball team.

After college, John started his career in Duluth, Minnesota. There he served as a weekend news anchor and reporter for KBJR. During his time in Duluth, he covered a variety of stories ranging from presidential visits to record-breaking snowstorms.

He is excited to make the Land of Enchantment his new home and he plans on creating a positive impact on the community through his reporting.

In his free time, John enjoys collecting baseball memorabilia, playing with professional-grade yo-yo's, and spending time with his family and friends.
