Shelly Ribando brought her unique combination of extensive experience, award-winning talent, and on-camera charisma to the Action 7 News team in December 2007.

As co-anchor of Action 7 News Live at 5:00pm, 6:00pm, and 10:00pm, Shelly brings you the day's big stories alongside co-anchor Doug Fernandez.

Before calling New Mexico home, Shelly worked as the main 10:00pm anchor at WOFL-TV in Orlando, Florida. Prior to the Sunshine State, Shelly-a native New Yorker-lived and worked in the much colder climates of Albany, Rochester, and Watertown, New York.

She's earned her position behind the "anchor desk" and has always been a passionate journalist-Shelly worked day and night as an assignment editor, reporter, and producer before anchoring, and understands how to tell the stories that matter.

Shelly graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, New York, but -- even before she had her diploma in hand-- she interned at WNYT-TV in Albany, New York, and worked as an editorial assistant at WAMC/Northeast Public Radio.

Shelly believes in doing journalism that makes a difference, and the New York Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Syracuse Press Club have recognized her outstanding work.

Some memorable highlights of Shelly's career include covering the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks from Manhattan, running with the Olympic Torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and covering Florida's hurricane season of 2004.

She's active in our community and is currently serving on the board of directors for the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy.

Of course, Shelly's looking forward to making new memories here in New Mexico. While she admits she's not a great skier, she still enjoys hitting the beautiful slopes here in the Land of Enchantment.
