Students break Guinness World Record for largest water balloon toss, school officials say
WASHINGTON. WELL, OMAHA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WORK TOGETHER TO BREAK A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD. MORE THAN A THOUSAND STUDENTS CAME OUT TO THE FIELD TO TAKE PART IN THE LARGEST WATER BALLOON TOSS. THEY USED MORE THAN 700 BALLOONS. EVERYONE GOT INTO A WATER FIGHT AFTERWARDS. NOT SURPRISINGLY, YOU KNOW, IT’S HISTORY. AND THAT’S KIND OF LIKE WE’RE HISTORY HERE AT CENTRAL, LIKE WE’RE OMAHA HIGH, LIKE WE ARE THE FIRST. AND WE REALLY STRESS THAT THAT TRADITION AND HISTORY THAT WE HAVE HERE. SO THEN WE’VE BEEN STRESSING HOW THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS IS PART OF HISTORY AS WELL. IT’S BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 50. AND THAT THEN YOU’RE GOING TO BE IN THIS BOOK AND YOU ARE GOING TO BE PART OF HISTORY WITH CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. THAT’S REALLY FUN. STUDENTS WHO HAVE GOOD ACADEMICS, BEHAVIOR AND ATTENDANCE RECORDS WERE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
