One injured, three homes destroyed in New Mexico wildfires
Wildfires sparked in different parts on New Mexico on Sunday.
Echo Ridge Fire
Crews are working to contain a wildfire that destroyed homes and injured one in Torrance county.
Fire and emergency officials say the wildfire burned 3 homes and 6 outbuildings. One firefighter was injured. The firefighter has been taken to a hospital.
The fire is 50 percent contained, and has burned 175 acres.
One homeowner told KOAT the fire destroyed their home and everything they had.
"I lose everything except for me and my family and some stuff here," Richard Phillips said.
Video from Sky 7 shows crews were able to contain the fire.
Multiple fire crews from Torrance County, Santa Fe County, Bernalillo and Sandoval County all assisting in containing the Echo Ridge Fire.
Torrance County Emergency Manager Samantha O'Dell said "we've been fortunate to have many resources to come out to help us."
The New Mexico State Forestry Division says the fire is suspected to have multiple areas of origin and two suspects are in custody with State Police.
Hilton Fire
A large fire was also reported just north of the town of Socorro in Socorro County.
Sky 7 flew over the fire near Escondida on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency officials say roads in the area are closed due to the fire.
Line Shack Fire
A wildfire weekend in New Mexico included the Line Shack Fire, which as of Sunday night had burned at least 250 acres in Hidalgo County.
The fire began on Friday in a remote location south of Animas, about one mile east of Black Mountain, according to a release from the New Mexico State Forestry Division. It was fueled by mesquite, brush, juniper and grass.
Multiple agencies are working to bring the fire under control.
