The New Mexico Senate approved legislation to require free tampons and other menstrual products in middle and high school bathrooms.Sanitary pads and tampons will be in every women's and gender-neutral bathroom if the legislation becomes law. At least one men's restroom would also be required to house the products.The Senate voted 27-13 in favor of House Bill 134 on Tuesday; 13 Republican senators voted against it. They questioned the requirement for a male restroom to be equipped with tampons and sanitary pads. The New Mexico House passed the legislation on March 6 with a 42-20 vote. The bill now moves to the desk of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to potentially sign it into law.
